USA – Microsoft has announced that it will be shedding 5000 jobs over the next 18 months. With 1400 jobs to go immediately.
This is better than the 15,000 job losses that that was rumoured to be being made redundant in the computer press, together with the possible sale of MSN business.
It seems that the disastrous launch of Windows Vista, the fatally flawed replacement for Windows XP and the economic downturn has severely affected Microsoft’s revenues.
Currently Microsoft employs about 90,000 people across the world.
