USA - It seems that Barack Obama has been reading his history books and read all about Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal for the unemployed during the great depression.

Having read about the new deal, and thinking that it is a good idea, wants to implement a new deal of his own. To this end he is planning a $50 billion program to revamp US transport infrastructure in a bid to kickstart the country's ailing economy ahead of forthcoming mid-term congressional elections.

Firstly having government subsidise the roll out of broadband infrastructure is a corporatist ploy; basically the government subsidises the roll out of broadband & then the internet service providers profit
